The Behavioral Health Associate II serves as an integral part of the multidisciplinary treatment team and is responsible for monitoring and reporting of client behaviors; providing continuous client care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling; assisting in client data collection, recording, and maintenance; and responding in crisis situations and medical emergencies as needed. Roles and Responsibilities include ensuring the wellbeing of clients and providing a safe, positive, supportive, and structured environment; maintaining constant awareness and supervision of clients; conducting safety checks; checking clients for contraband and managing valuables; interacting routinely with clients and communicating observations; promoting recreational activities; facilitating educational-rehabilitative groups; taking and recording vital signs; documenting client records; applying de-escalation techniques; assisting with unit cleaning and administrative tasks; providing or coordinating client transportation; providing verbal reports to oncoming shifts; serving as a resource for new clients; maintaining awareness of client needs and motivating participation in beneficial activities; assisting with activity planning and organizing equipment; enforcing safety rules; helping develop and maintain departmental resources; assisting with admissions and discharges; participating in rehabilitation and treatment programs; ensuring program schedule adherence. Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, at least one year experience as a Behavioral Health Associate, experience with the specific population served, knowledge of psychiatric disorders and treatment modalities preferred, CPR and de-escalation certification required (training available upon hire), and possibly first aid certification based on state or facility requirements.
