Job Description and Duties

As part of a talented, high-performing, and diverse team, the Information Technology Specialist II will serve as a Senior Storage and Data Protection Engineer responsible for the implementation and management of the Department of Water Resources (DWR) and California Natural Resource Agency’s (CNRA) storage and backup/recovery systems. This includes architecting, implementing, and operating the DWR/CNRA storage infrastructure in public, private and hybrid cloud environments as well as managing all remote storage sites throughout the DWR/CNRA statewide network. This critical position ensures the availability, reliability, scalability, and manageability of DWR and CNRA's data storage and backup/recovery environment that supports the information technology infrastructure of DWR and CNRA in alignment with the Department’s programs, strategic goals and business objectives.  This position will work closely with other infrastructure teams, engineering architects, business units, outside business partners and vendors to support, administer, and develop enterprise storage and data protection solutions to meet these goals and objectives.   4. Describe your methodology in learning a new technology and becoming a subject matter expert in that area.
