ORGANIZATION

“Helping students reach new heights.” School-Based Behavior Consultation focuses on skill development amp; challenging behavior reduction for student success! SBBC provides ABA therapy amp; behavior support interventions in-school amp; in-home to improve social skills, academics, vocational skills, functional skills, amp; communication. This is accomplished through the use of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) amp; in collaboration with other specialists, school staff, the students we serve, amp; caregivers.

Vision : We envision schools throughout East Central Indiana having the qualified staff amp; training needed to provide specialized behavior support services so ALL students can succeed.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The BCBA will provide support to individuals and their families and/or school teams by coordinating and providing services in Applied Behavior Analysis, function analyses and assessment, behavior acquisition and reduction procedures, and adaptive life skills.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Conducts comprehensive Functional Skills Assessments, Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA) and develops Skill Acquisition Plans (SAP) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP), in collaboration with caregivers and/or school staff and administrators, and/or other service providers.

  • Develops consultation relationships with district special and general education service providers where applicable.

  • Trains, directs, and monitors caregivers and/or the work of teachers and staff assigned to work with students with behavioral challenges.

  • Supports and promotes fidelity of implementation of evidence-based intervention strategies and programs for students.

  • Conducts observations of students in a variety of settings.

  • Analyzes student’s behavior from a functional perspective, identifies behavior skill deficits, and develops strategic plan to teach appropriate replacement behavior(s).

  • Provides evidence-based behavior strategy recommendations and trains caregivers, staff and/or administrators in implementing behavioral interventions.

  • Develops data collection methods and trains staff and/or caregivers to utilize.

  • Uses collected data to monitor present levels and make adjustments to behavior strategy recommendations and/or treatment plan.

  • Supervises RBTs to support treatment fidelity, providing ongoing training, and maintaining credentialing.

  • Collaborates with a variety of service providers and agencies within the school and/or in the community to most effectively address student’s therapeutic needs.

  • Researches and promotes evidence-based behavior analytic strategies, approaches, resources, and curriculum.

  • Provides positive behavior support presentations, training, and/or professional development.

  • Participates in meetings, including Individual Educational Plan (IEP) meetings, 504 meetings, Multidisciplinary Teams (MTSS) meetings, student-related staffings, and manifest determination meetings.

  • Participates in professional learning activities related to research based behavioral interventions, as well as other relevant professional learning opportunities, to further develop knowledge and skills.

  • Communicates with parents regarding behavior needs of students.

  • Tracks and documents required information for insurance reimbursement.

  • Ethically maintains HIPAA requirements, professional records, and documentation.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience providing behavior-based services to general and special education students; conducting FBAs; developing and implementing behavioral intervention plans and data collection systems; and using data-driven evaluations of behavior strategy effectiveness.

  • Skill developing and presenting training activities; establishing and maintaining professional working relationships with individuals, groups, public, and private agency personnel; and developing consultation relationships with special and general education service providers.

  • Knowledge of evidence-based behavior interventions and strategies, including positive behavior intervention and supports (PBIS) and applied behavior analysis (ABA); individual and classroom management techniques; principles and practices of instruction, curriculum, professional development, and assessment in a special education setting; student assessment methods; and research basis underlying best practices in special education.

  • Ability to present complex information on behavior, behavioral assessment, and implementation of behavior plans to staff; work independently; communicate orally and in writing; establish and maintain professional relationships; establish priorities and meet deadlines; travel to various locations; manage various assignments simultaneously; work as part of a interdisciplinary team; work with adolescents and transition age youth that have behavioral, learning, emotional, and social challenges.

  • Work from home one day per week

  • Physical Abilities include sitting for extended periods, reaching, lifting and carrying, fine manual dexterity, pulling, pushing, talking/hearing, near and far visual acuity/depth perception/color vision/field of vision.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Masters Degree in Special Education, Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, or Applied Behavior Analysis or related field

  • 1-2 Years experience providing behavioral support services in the natural setting

  • BCBA Certification

SALARY

  • $73,000- $95,000 commensurate with experience
  • Includes the following benefits: major medical, vision, and dental, supplemental insurance (including accident protection and short term disability), unemployment insurance, workman’s compensation, and social security and medicare taxes

  • PTO - 25 days per year

  • Five paid holidays

  • $350 per year CEU budget
