Job Description:
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Legal Counsel to support our logistics and commercial operations. This role will involve providing legal guidance across a range of business activities, including freight forwarding, transportation, warehousing, and distribution, as well as supporting broader commercial agreements and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Contract Drafting & Review: Review, draft, and negotiate contracts related to freight forwarding, transportation, warehousing, distribution, and other logistics services, as well as non-disclosure agreements and supplier contracts.
Legal Due Diligence: Conduct legal due diligence for business-related matters, following guidance from the senior legal team in Seoul, South Korea.
Compliance & Policy Monitoring: Ensure compliance with Company policies, government regulations, and industry standards. Monitor changes in regulations and advise on necessary adjustments.
Reporting & Stakeholder Communication: Report to Senior Counsel and Business Management on contract status, legal reviews, and risk assessments. Collaborate with business leaders across the U.S. and Korea.
Risk Identification & Mitigation: Identify legal and operational risks in global logistics and supply chain activities. Work with senior leadership and legal teams to develop risk mitigation strategies.
Commercial Insurance Support: Assist in the negotiation and management of commercial insurance policies. Provide proposals and solutions to support the Department Head.
Legal Research & Analysis: Conduct legal research on assigned issues, including certifications, licenses, and new business initiatives.
Litigation & Dispute Support: Assist Senior Counsel in managing litigation and other legal disputes as needed.
General Legal Support: Handle additional legal matters as assigned by senior management.
Qualifications:
Education: Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent from an accredited law school.
Licensure: Must be licensed to practice law in New Jersey and in good standing.
Experience: 2-3 years of legal experience with a focus on corporate law.
Additional Qualifications: Admission to the California Bar is a plus but not required.
Legal Expertise: Strong legal research and analytical skills.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Collaboration & Independence: Ability to collaborate effectively with teams while also thriving in independent work environments.
